I won't bore you every week with updates on how Sis & I are doing at Weight Watchers, but I thought I'd just let you know how the first week went. Perhaps by the title of the is post you can tell.
Not sure if you're familiar with the program, but key to success is tracking what you eat and when. Even scientific studies say this is the best way to get back to healthy eating habits. Okay ... I'm not "getting back" because I never really had them ... but whatever.
Tuesday is our Meeting & Weigh-In day ... so on Monday I contact Sis and I'm trying to figure out what I've eaten all week. She thought I was asking her what I ate at her house one night ... what is she kidding me? Sis was NOT impressed that I hadn't been writing everything down on a daily basis, and she remembered reading my previous post where I said I'd left all my WW stuff in the car. Anyhoo ....
Here's a snippet of our Yahoo Chat:
ME: I have no idea if I lost weight, I sure don't feel like it
SIS: How have you been doing keeping within your points?
ME: I dunno, LOL ... pretty close ... does that count?
SIS: How close is pretty close? Or does that mean you weren't really paying attention to it?
ME: Well, I can't for the life of me remember ... but i know I didn't have any junk food...just fruit, veggies & WW dinners.
SIS: Oh good grief...you're not supposed to sit here on Monday and try and remember the whole week!
ME: lol I KNOW! I'M UNORGANIZED ... what, did you just meet me or something?
SIE: Did you take the stuff out of your car yet?!? Or just hide it so I couldn't see it?!? LOL
ME: lol .. no it's in my livingroom
SIS: Okay..we're going to have to make some changes here then. We're going to have to have a check-in time....so you can write everything down for the day...the one you're living in at the time!
ME: uh huh
SIS: Well you have to know if you're maintaining your points...or you won't know what you need to change if you don't lose weight.
ME: ...
SIS: And you won't be able to starve yourself all night and hope it changes in the morning! lol
ME: LOL!! I know that! And like I'd starve myself! What planet are you on?
SIS: lolol
The lecture continued.
But Sis is right, of course ... as always. It's not just about the numbers on the scale ... it's about making healthy changes and I can't do that if I'm not cognisant of what I'm doing. So this coming week I plan to actually keep track of everything. I'm sure this past week I cheated myself out of some food ... and we can't have that now can we!
The really exciting news was our results ... Sis lost 4 lbs and I lost 5.2 lbs. Cool huh? Yay us!

Wow, congrats! You lost more than her without even tracking it? Maybe you should stick with your plan... it seems to be working... :)
NO! I could have eaten more, and it's not healthy. It's about eating the right foods..so, this week I'm tracking. But thanks! We were pretty happy about the results :)
You both did great! Good job!
Woo-HOO!!! Way to go Drowsey!!!
Thanks jay, we were happy ... and didn't celebrate with Tim Horton's (that's a doughnut place for those non-Canadians) ... lol
olga - yay! Yes, we're pretty happy. But I gotta keep track! It's actually amazing how much you can eat and still lose weight!
where's the part about you spilling coffee all over your record book?!? lol
Sis
LOL - hi sis! I knew I shouldn't have created an account for you! LOL
Ummm...yeah ... I ruined all my weight watchers stuff by spilling coffee on it... LOL I'm a clutz!
I'm thinking of forming a support group for your sister ........
Yippiee!! Great Job. Keep it up.:)
LOL DaddyP ... I think she needs one!
scratch - thanks :)
Keep laughing, uses calories and tightens abs.
Nice job! Journaling is a valuable tool. You bite it, you write it. The best way to make this work for you is to write it all out at the beginning of the day and filling from there - but only eat it AFTER you write it. It is not so much about being organized as it is being determined. There will come a point where journaling will be more important. Before I had ds I lost 45 pounds on WW - but that was before "points". I can't make it work for me now... haven't tried in like 5 years - but the points don't seem to work for me. Don't know why for sure.
How funny is that? You didn't even do the program and you lost all that weight. More than sis. BTW that is way too much per week. They say 1-2 lbs a week is the most you are supposed to lose. Holy crapoli. It's gonna be interesting to see what happens when you do write everything down.
Wah-heyyyyy! Well done!
My sister is on this diet and she is amazed at how much you have to eat.
Does this mean that you can never have another doughnut?
Hello 'People with Cameras' by the way - nice photos.
Good stuff.
It's funny though, you'd think you'd be more with the program since you're spending money on it?
5.2 pounds... Eating all that dust must be working well for you. Continued luck on your dust-eating.
(take that, sis! ha! weight loss should be a competitive sport, a la the biggest loser...)
Way to go Drowsey!
That not tracking thing is working for you! You ladies ROCKED!
First of all congratulations to you and the sis!
Secondly make the sister blog.
Thirdly after following your comments across my blog,Olga's and twitter this level of confusion does not surprise me at all :)
That IS cool-- congrats!
I think you should blog what you eat each day. Then you have a record for yourself. Or Twitter it to Claire and I. :) Daniel's (TheGoodKnife) always telling us what HE eats. I think I know every meal he consumes, plus beverages. :)
How are you hopeless if you ARE losing weight!? LOL! Good job!
Yay! Go you...and your sis! :D
I agree with the tweet what you eat :)
That even rhymes!
Tweet what you eat!
But not if its something sweet!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
/lies down
See, there's no way I can be that organized about food. It's hard enough for me to remember how much time has passed between carb and protein meals.
Btw, tag! You're it! And you've received a coveted award to boot!
How about blogging your points? I mean blogging is just about as easy as breathing, right?
You lost more than her without trying properly? She must be really p***ed off with you!
Good job on the weight loss! Damn it's soooo hard. But mmmmm....Timbits......mmmmmmm lol
Congrats. Glad you did well. And just remember, progress, not perfection.
Dang! 5 pounds without keeping track? Congrats and keep it up! I am also hopelessly unorganized...serious handicap when it comes to achieving life goals!
Rock on! That's awesome :o)
diane - yes, I think that's what's been helping us!
daisybug - yeah, they give you the option of doing it the old way or the points way. Either way is twisting my brain, lol.
lauren - it's not about losing weight, which is easy to do the first week anyway. It's about learning what to eat, how much & when ... and ... that requires some planning ... which I don't do well ... obviously! ;)
babs - I didn't eat as much as I could have ... which is why I'm writing it down this week! The more the better as far as I'm concerned!
mike - well, if money was a motivator in my life I'd be rich ... or at least not poor. ;
redbeard - no dust ... lots of potatoes, and other good stuff tho. I actually can't believe how much I can have, it's amazing. Unfortunately sis & I aren't competitive ... or maybe that's a good thing.
catz - thanks :)
sandy - we were really happy!
claire - yes, sis needs a blog, lol. As for my confusion ... now you know what she deals with daily! LOL
jen - lol...no kidding! "I ate a donut" "I ate a breakfast borrito" why does he do that? LOL
marvin - 'cause it's not about losing weight. Anyone can not eat and lose weight! LOL
jessica - thanks :)
claire - tweet what you eat! You could market that.
honeywine - yeah, it's gonna take me a while to get on board. Thanks for the tag ... and award, wow :)
olga - blogging points? LOL oh god...I can't keep up with comments!
val - yeah, but I was hungry ... I could have eaten more and been happy with losing 2 lbs. And sis would never be pissed w/me. We never get mad at each other, actually. Which is a good thing! :)
jojo - lol...3 points in a timbit, we looked it up! Or, I can have a weight watchers dinner and that's 5 points! Easy choice I say ;)
old man - that's true. perfection is not my friend ;)
boymom - me too! Which is why I'm glad I have my sister! :)
karen - thanks! :)
SHUT UP!!! That is so wonderful. and its even more awesome because you didnt even 'pay attention' and get all crazy anal about watching the points and you made some serious progress.
KUDOS times INFINITY.
5.2 pounds! Holy crap! That is awesome!!!!!! Did I mention that is awesome?! It seemed you did something right by not keeping your journal.....Wait, we aren't supposed to look at it that way, are we?
Yes but rest assured you both will find the weight you lost. Sorry but short term diets never work you need a lifestyle change. Anyway hope it works out for both of you.
Congrats on the 5+ pounds gone. But be careful. When you have success without doing what you're supposed to do you get a mindset that you can cheat and still do well. It will eventually catch up with you.
As someone who's been where you are, you have my admiration and my support. The hardest thing in the world to change is our own mindset. It's almost like the immovable object meeting the irresistible force.
thanks meleah! :) I gotta pay more attention tho ... otherwise I'll just end up where I'm at alllll over again ;)
julie - yeah, I would have rather eaten more, especially since I could have and still lost weight!
monkey - oh trust me ... we know that, LOL. Weight Watchers is all about lifestyle change not dieting ... which is why we joined.
lee - yep, which is why I have Sis ;) It's easy to lose 5 lbs in the first week ... that's not really all that hard. It's changing the way you live that's hard ... which is what WW is all about.
Sometimes all I eat is corn ... "I call it MAZE"
Your body don mess with corn !!
speedy - I'm not even going to comment on that comment, LOL
YEAH Drowsey...
Go Drowsey GO !!!
Go Drowsey GO!!!!
Walking is good too:)
thanks med! Yep, this week is all about "being active" ... altho we've been walking more anyway.
Congratulations!!!
Thanks :) We're pretty happy about it!
damned, effin' wii fit told me I gained 22 plus pounds since sunday.
bongo - lol...you crazy monkey you.
Congratulations on the 5.2 lb weight loss,I am cognisant of the difficulty and what you are going through, I had to loose weight a long time ago, 70 lbs.
Thanks bob :) I appreciate the support.
Congratulations, that's a great first week! A friend of mine is following the point system and it's worked for her, but I have a hell of a time figuring points and do better counting calories. You gotta go with what works!
Thanks :) Yeah, I'm finding the points a bit confusing, I may have to go back to the old fashioned way.
